1948 Bowman Football cards were the first football cards released by the gum company and would be a regular issue for eight years until Topps bought out the company in 1956. Design elements for this set are nearly identical to 1948 Bowman Baseball as well as 1948 Bowman Movie Stars with a simple border surrounding a black and white image.
The checklist includes 108 cards which were printed on three different sheets. The third sheet, which featured cards divisible by 3, was short printed and those cards regularly sell for much higher than the other two-thirds of the set.
