1948 Bowman baseball cards were the first nationally distributed cards issued after the second world war.

The checklist includes 48 black and white cards — 27 of which feature New York teams — and there are 11 Hall of Fame inductees included in the set including the rookie cards of Yogi Berra, Warren Spahn, and Stan Musial.

This set began Bowman’s eight year reign as the preeminent baseball card producer until Topps took the crown in 1956. As with many (most) sets from this era, finding well-centered cards can be exceptionally difficult.
