2021 Topps Sports Illustrated trading cards recreate iconic covers from the magazine’s extensive archive.
The online exclusive brand has a checklist of 70 cards with print runs for each card determined on consumer demand over their seven day availability. It is claimed that this is a tribute to the Topps 70th anniversary (much like Project70) but with their first publication being released in 1954, Sports Illustrated is three years shy of running parallel to Topps. Also, there is absolutely no connection with the magazine cover and a particular baseball card so this functions more as a tribute to 67 years of SI than it does as a tribute to Topps.
Cards are released weekly in pairs and available for seven days. Numbered color parallels will be randomly distributed among the print runs.
