Topps and New Era have joined forces to celebrate the 30th anniversary of 1987 Topps Baseball with a new set of baseball hats.
Inspired by the iconic “wood” bordered card design, each hat features a mock wood bill as well as a period specific version of the team logo as it appeared on the baseball cards. In the instances where teams didn’t exist during the 1987 season, such as the Diamondbacks, Nationals, and Rays, early versions of team logos are used instead.
The Topps logo appears on the right side of the hate and the New Era logo appears on the left, both in team colors. The reverse of each hat also features the Topps tagline “The Real One!” arched over the rear panels of the cap.
1987 Topps Baseball cards are a very popular design and Topps has featured the classic look in retro, insert, and throwback sets across baseball and wrestling this year in honor of the set’s anniversary. These snapback caps are available for sale on the New Era website and seven teams (Yankees, Giants, Cubs, Mets, Expos, Dodgers, and Red Sox) are available via the Topps website. Each hat retails for $34.99.
