Updated:

2017 Topps Now Baseball cards picked up where 2016 ended and took the popular on-demand series to a whole new level. This year marked the first year that the set was available from the beginning of the baseball season, including spring training and the World Baseball Classic.

In all, 1,272 cards were produced with a final cumulative print run of 799,404 cards. As with every other aspect of the hobby, Aaron Judge ruled the day with 21% of the final print run featuring him on a card front despite only appearing on 4% of the cards.

The best selling card came during the off season when the Angels signed Shohei Ohtani after a 30 team bid for the Japanese superstar. His card sold 17,323 copies which is nearly 6,000 cards more than last year’s most sold card of Ichiro.

30% of all the cards produced featured players from just 10% of the teams. Those same teams were also responsible for 56.6% of the total print run. The Yankees only had one card sell fewer than 500 copies and had 20 players with print runs of 1,000 or more.

Aaron Judge, who appears on the Yankees top selling card, also appears on the top selling cards for the Pirates, Marlins, Diamondbacks, and Cardinals.

The Mariners had an average print run of just 190 cards. No single player has a total print run over 1,000 and the gap between their best selling card and their worst selling card (not including Player’s Weekend cards) is just 368 cards. Their top selling card also features Alex Rodriguez, a former player more widely known as a Yankee and Francisco Lindor whose print run was 4,531 in 2017.

Below is a list of each team’s individual stats. We have excluded the World Baseball Classic cards from our statistics this year. Also, cards credited to MLB are reflected in total print run numbers but are not included in any particular team, regardless of who was on the card. For the purposes of our stats, cards with variants such as autographs will be combined with their initial card and considered as one “total card”. Cards with multiple players will be counted once for each player credited on the card. Lowest selling cards stats exclude limited-numbered cards and cards which were sold as groups (many teams’ least sold cards were their Players Weekend five packs).
