2016 Topps Gypsy Queen

The 2016 Topps Gypsy Queen set offers everything that fans of this series have come to love. As always, the signature of the Gypsy Queen set is its classic design balanced by a checklist mixed with contemporary and legendary baseball superstars. There are many parallels and inserts and a respectable list of signatories so, with each hobby box promising two autographs and two relics, there is something for set builders as well as “hit” seekers.

The base set for 2016 Topps Gypsy Queen is 300 regular print cards and 50 short print cards. There is a complete set of parallel mini cards, also with 50 short prints. The first 195 cards of the checklist are also treated to Mini Clear and Mini Leather variations. Base set image variations are scattered throughout the distribution while Mini Variations are included only in hobby boxes. Both the Base and Mini sets also have colored frame variants, listed in our checklist.

There are several chase sets and inserts to collect with any Gypsy Queen set and this year is no different. Topps has brought back the Glove Stories, Power Alley, and Walk Off Winners chase sets from previous editions of Gypsy Queen and thrown in some interesting relics including the Original Art Patch (1/1) and Prime Bat Relics (1/1) which are sure to be highly sought after cards.

Autograph cards are included using the base design and five color variations but not every signatory appears on every variation. For example, Joc Pederson does not have a green autograph card and many other players have various mixes of base (or not) and parallels. Mini autograph cards appear only in hobby boxes. Also included on the autograph list is a very low supply of Mini MVP autographs. The 17 card miniature chase set comes with base autos (#/15) and black parallel autos (1/1) and are among the most rare cards in this collection.
