1949 Topps Flags of All Nations – Soldiers of the World trading cards were among the first cards ever to be released by Topps. The checklist features 100 cards without sequence numbers. One side of each card features the flag of a country and the other side of the card features a uniformed soldier from that same country. The flag side had a cloth surface which has nearly universally frayed in the decades since release.
Trading card sets with flags of the world had been a staple of the hobby since the 1800s and this wouldn’t be Topps’ lone entry into this specific card category.
