1948 Leaf Football cards were an almost even mix of professional and collegiate players with a checklist of 98 cards and a design that followed other 1948 Leaf products.

The set was released over two series (1-49 & 50-98) and, as is usually the case, the second series is more difficult to acquire. Because this was among the first professional football card releases, non-collegiate cards are often considered “rookie” cards by collectors regardless of the player’s rookie status that season but there is no official designation of such on the cards.

There are several color variations among the 98 cards in this set. For example, Card #1 can be found with both a yellow background and a white background, card #5 has either black or white lettering, and card #41 has either orange pants or yellow pants.
