1926 Players Straight Line Caricatures were released in Players Tobacco products and feature the artwork of Alexander Penrose Forbes Ritchie who was a popular artists in the UK at the time. Each card carries his signature “Alick P.F. Ritchie”.
Most of the 49 Englishmen portrayed in this set are politicians or aristocrats but there are a smattering of popular athletes and artists such as playwright George Bernard Shaw, author Rudyard Kipling and actor Charlie Chaplin. There is also a lone American, actor Douglas Fairbanks, appearing in the set brining the total card count to 50.
