Not only an iconic card design but the 1959 Topps Baseball series was the largest set to date for the company. With a checklist of 572 cards that include baseball giants like Mickey Mantle, Sandy Koufax, Hank Arron and Willie Mays, 1959 Topps Baseball has become a highly valuable and collectible set.

Beyond the base design, there are several subsets within the large checklist including a set of All Star cards that make up the final 22 cards of the series. Topps, as a part of their Throwback Thursday online exclusive series, is paying homage to this subset by honoring six first time all stars with the design.

Making up cards 25-30 of the Throwback Thursday checklist, the 1959 Topps Baseball throwback cards feature Jake Arrieta, Francisco Lindor, Corey Seager, Xander Bogaerts, Noah Syndergaard, and Aledmys Diaz, all of whom are participating in their first Midsummer Classic.

Along with being first time all stars, Seager and Diaz are both designated as rookie cards in this set. This also marks the second throwback card for Arrieta, Seager, and Syndergaard.

This is the fifth series of six cards to be released under the Throwback Thursday moniker. We have a complete checklist and hub that you can follow to stay up to date on future and past releases. So far, out of the first four releases, there have been 3,995 packs sold and the three most recent releases are averaging 763 packs each which means that these cards are incredibly limited and have already begun to sell on eBay at elevated prices as they are only available to order for one week at a time.

So far, the Dodgers are the most represented team in the Throwback series with six of the first 30 cards commemorating the franchises’ players. That said, three of those six cards belong to Kershaw and Syndergaard but, with three individual players included, they are still the most represented team through 30 cards.
