The second week of the Topps Living Set has been released and the three players to receive new hand drawn likenesses are Rhys Hoskins, Ian Happ, and Nick Markakis. Hoskins is notable for being the first rookie card in the potentially endless series of cards. The first week’s release sold over 20,000 cards – more than half of which were for Aaron Judge.
- 4 – Rhys Hoskins appeared in 50 games during the 2017 season with a batting line of .259/.396/.618 and 18 home runs to his name. His walk rate sat at 17.4% while his strikeout rate was at 21.6% and he finished the season with a 2.0 WAR and 21 runs above replacement.
- 5 – Ian Happ homered in 20% of the games he appeared in during his rookie campaign with the Chicago Cubs. He posted a 1.8 WAR and 19 RAR in 115 games but was the definition of average on defense with a dWAR of 0.0.
- 6 – Nick Markakis is the only player in this week’s set to have more than a single season on the back of his baseball card. Markakis is entering his 13th season in the majors and with the exception of 2012 – he only appeared in 104 games that year – he has appeared in at least 147 games every season of his career. His consistency is worthy of note as he has posted a positive WAR and RAR every year of his career and maintains a .275 batting average.
Each of these players will only appear once in this collection (unless they are traded) and final print runs of each card will be based solely on order demand. Cards are available for purchase for just one week and can be bought by clicking any of the links on this page.
A full checklist, available on the main page of this hub, includes all of the cards in this set as well as final print runs for each.
